A Story of Growth and New Beginnings at West Cheshire Credit Union - Further Recruitment Drive

ree

Not long ago, West Cheshire Credit Union was a small but passionate organisation, driven by a simple mission: to help local people save safely and borrow affordably. Over the years, our community has trusted us with their hopes, their goals, and their futures—and that trust has fuelled our steady development and growth.

What began as a service for a few hundred members back in 2004 has now become a thriving, community-led movement. Families rely on us for support in difficult times. Savers find confidence in putting their money somewhere meaningful and our Juniors and School Banks are developing a practical understanding of money matters. Our presence has become a beacon of fairness in the community where many may feel left behind with practical financial services.

With the recent recruitment of two new staff members to cover key roles such as Member Services and Loan Officer duties we are strengthening our resources to ensure our strategic and operational goals and aspirations can be achieved thus providing even more services for our valued members.

However, with growth comes opportunity. To keep pace with the needs of our members, we knew we had to strengthen our foundation further. That’s why we are so excited to announce the recruitment of new roles within our organisation:

·         Outreach Officer (paid position) to deepen our connection with the community, spreading the word about the life-changing benefits of credit unions and ensuring no one misses out on fair financial services. (closing date 15th September)

·         Treasurer (voluntary) to safeguard our resources with diligence and vision, ensuring we remain financially strong and prepared for the future. (open no closing date)

·         Finance & Compliance Officer (paid position) – to uphold the highest standards of trust and accountability, keeping our members’ confidence at the heart of everything we do. (closing date 10th October)

·         Non-Executive Directors (voluntary) – Bring skills and knowledge to our current portfolio of directors who oversee the credit union activities and steer the strategic direction. (open no closing date)

These new positions aren’t just jobs—they are milestones in our development. They represent our growth from a small local initiative into a robust, professional organisation ready to serve even more people in Cheshire West, Cheshire East and Flintshire. They are proof that when a community comes together with a shared purpose, it creates opportunities for both people and places to thrive.

Our story is still being written, and every new member, every saver, every borrower, and every dedicated staff member adds a new chapter in our future. West Cheshire Credit Union is not just about providing financial services—it’s about building a fairer, stronger community for everyone and alongside this employment opportunities for local people.

We welcome applications for any of the above positions.

Firstly, send your CV with a covering letter explaining how you fit the criteria and why you would like to join our team to neil.jay@wccu.co
