Are you passionate about community finance, ethical lending, and helping people build a better financial future? We're looking for a Volunteer Treasurer to join our Board of Directors and support the financial oversight of our established and growing credit union.

About Us
West Cheshire Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial co-operative dedicated to providing fair, affordable savings and loans to our local community. Run by members, for members, we exist to promote financial inclusion and help people take control of their money.

About the Role
As Treasurer, you will play a key role in safeguarding the financial health and integrity of the credit union. You'll work closely with the Board and management team to provide financial oversight, ensure proper financial controls, and support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor the financial position of the credit union and report to the Board

Create and present monthly management accounts and budgets

Prepare and submit regulatory returns

Liaise with external auditors and ensure compliance with FCA and PRA requirements

Advise on financial strategy, risk, and investment

Ensure appropriate financial systems and controls are in place
What We're Looking For
-
Experience in finance, accounting, or bookkeeping (qualified or part-qualified desirable)

Understanding of financial reports and controls

Knowledge of credit unions, co-operatives, or the third sector (or willingness to learn)

Integrity, reliability, and a commitment to the credit union’s values

Availability to attend monthly Board meetings (remote or in-person)
